Construction of the new Pinellas Bayway Bridge that connects Isla del Sol (near Ft DeSoto) and St. Pete Beach (near Don Cesar Hotel) is scheduled to begin in February. The 50 year old, two-lane drawbridge will be replaced with a new four-lane, high level fixed span bridge. The new 65 foot high bridge will allow boats to pass underneath without impacting motorists. This will improve traffic flow by reducing congestion. Construction is expected to be complete in the Fall of 2014.
